Wizards of the Coast signs publishing agreement with Giant Skull

Wizards of the Coast (WotC) announced today that it has reached a publishing agreement with development studio Giant Skull. It will publish the studio’s title currently in development, a single-player action-adventure game with an immersive story set in the Dungeons & Dragons universe. While Giant Skull has not revealed any further details about the game thus far, it’s currently in development for PC and console.
This new project is one of multiple D&D-based projects in the works between WotC and various partners. These include an action-adventure game from Invoke Studios (formerly known as Tuque), a multiplayer game from Starbreeze and a co-op survival game from Gameloft. WotC also has several other video game projects in the works, with Archetype’s Exodus and Atomic Arcade’s Snake Eyes project getting updates alongside the Giant Skull announcement.
Stig Asmussen, Giant Skull CEO, said in a statement, “Our talented and experienced team at Giant Skull is built on creativity and curiosity. Our goal is to craft a rich new Dungeons & Dragons universe filled with immersive storytelling, heroic combat and exhilarating traversal that players will fully embrace.” Asmussen formerly worked on the Star Wars Jedi and God of War series for Respawn and Sony Santa Monica, respectively.
John Hight, president of Wizards of the Coast and digital gaming at Hasbro, said of the new project, “Stig and the team at Giant Skull are exactly the type of exceptionally talented creators we want to work with, and I’m so happy to be reuniting with him on this new project… Worldbuilding and storytelling is in our DNA, and this collaboration reflects our evolution and commitment to our Playing to Win Strategy, building a stronger presence in digital play.”
