Nvidia unveils GeForce RTX 5060 graphics card for desktops and laptops

Nvidia announced its GeForce RTX 5060 graphics card for desktops and laptops will debut starting May 19.
The graphics chip maker said the RTX 5060 will enable players to play their favorite games, maxed out at more than 100 frames per second.
“We are really excited to complete this with our RTX 5060 arriving on May 19,” said Justin Walker, senior director of product management at Nvidia, in a press briefing. “With this, we are making neural rendering DLSS4 accessible to everything. The 60 Series has always been our most popular GPUs in the GeForce lineup.”
Desktop GPUs will start out at $299 and the laptops for RTX 5060 will start at $1,099. They will be available from all major computer makers, Walker said.
The card can play Hogwarts Legacy at 234 frames per second, Ghost of Tsushima at 215 fps, Black Myth Wukong at 130 fps, Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition at 148 fps, and Doom: The Dark Ages at 223 fps. That’s just a sample of its performance across the board for PC games.
“The big deal about the 5060 is this is the GPU that’s going to allow gamers to max out their games, play at or close to max settings at their level,” Walker said. “These kinds of rates are a very substantial upgrade for gamers everywhere.”
Nvidia said new 5060 laptops will be available from just about every computer maker. For prices starting at $1,099, RTX 50 Series Laptops will feature DLSS 4, Blackwell Max-Q and be as thin as 14.9 millimeters thick. Among the machines coming are the Acer Predator Triton 14 AI, ASUS TUF Gaming A14, Alienware 16X Aurora, Gigabyte A16 Pro, HP Omen Transcend 14, Lenovo Legion 9i, MSI VenturePro A16 AI+ and Razer Blade 14.
Path tracing for Doom

Starting in June, Doom: The Dark Ages will be upgraded from ray tracing to Path Tracing and DLSS Ray Reconstruction. Nvidia says there will be noticeable differences in details.
“Doom is going to look great. That’s going to be an awesome experience, and we’re really excited to be able to share with you that we will be announcing that in June that Doom: The Dark Ages will be adding both path tracing and DLSS,” Walker said.
This allows for more accurate simulation of lighting, resulting in things like better reflections, he said.
“So now, in Doom: The Dark Ages, when you turn on DLSS4, you get not only better image quality, but you get seven times the performance,” Walker said.
The game will run at seven times the FPS with DLSS 4 4K Path tracing turned on. And DLSS 4 itself is now available in over 125 games and app, with more DLSS4 games coming soon like Crimson Desert, FBC: Firebreak Inzoi, Light of Motiram, EA Spors F1 25, Mindseye, Portal with RTX, Roadcraft, Splitgate 2 and Wuchang: Fallen Feathers.
“DLSS4 is the fastest adopted video gaming technology in our history. It’s super popular because, as I mentioned, each game plays faster,” he said.
The screen below shows Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 running at about four times the FPS in a comparison of RTX 5060 versus the RTX 3060.

RTX Remix will also remaster classic games. Over 100 RTX Remix mods have been released, with 350 in development. Portal RTX has been upgraded for DLSS 4 and RTX Neural Radiance Cache. There will be an RTX Remix Mod Contest with $50,000 in prizes on ModDB. More than two million gamers have downloaded the mods.
Walker said Nvidia is expecting to have a good supply of 5060 chips. But he said that will depend on supply and demand.
